Jakar International Ltd was established in 1949 by Lydia Sacki. The company has since grown through three generations of the Sacki family, Paul Sacki, the current MD, joined the company in 1979. Jakar originally sold drawing instruments and cuckoo clocks imported from Germany.

Since 1960, the company has been distributing Jakar drawing instruments as well as many other stationery, craft and artists' materials, including Caran d'Ache, the world renowned 100% Swiss made artists’ materials and colouring products.

Jakar are also Sole Distributors in the UK and Ireland for Rosa Artists Materials including watercolours, acrylics and oil colours, made in Ukraine. Alongside this they sell the M+R range of pencil sharpeners and rulers.
