Craft Focus - Dec/Jan (Issue 76)
45 PROFILE Tell us a little about Crafts Too – how long has the company been in business? Crafts Too has delivered innovative, creative and commercial art and craft products for 21 years. We’re a family-run company, and we focus on distributing a vast array of own-brand and designer ranges from both the UK and across the world. Who’s who at the company? Peter runs the business, with his wife Jane casting her creative eye over each range and assisting with product selection. Their son Marc runs the warehouse and production side, while my partner Sam and I assist with design and social media respectively. Talk us through the product catalogue. Craft Art is our consumables arm, covering adhesives, paper, card and the amazingly popular Mica Magic colouring range. Crafts Too focuses on tools, including the Press to Impress stamp platform. Items are priced with crafters in mind. Press Cut features in-house and licensed dies and embossing folders with combinations intended to match. Basic and more complex shapes are available. John Next Door is designed exclusively by me. The collection features dies, stamps, embossing folders and media plates, all intended to work separately or together. Limited editions are released monthly. Two Jays Stamp Co offers a UK-designed selection covering classic and modern styles, with regular launches. We also supply brands from across the world including Find It Media, with its monthly launch of dies, stamps, embossing folders, papers and matching decoupage. What are your bestselling lines? Each month brings popular new collections. Recent top sellers include John Next Door and Mica Magic. Are there any new launches coming up? There are extra collections due from John Next Door as well as exciting additions to the Craft Artist range. Next year will also see extra Press Cut products, with a redesign of some old favourites, bringing the collection under one coordinating banner. How would you advise a retailer who is interested in working with Crafts Too? We only supply to retailers with a bricks-and-mortar shop or a dedicated website – those interested can apply for an account. The best way to start is to pick up on one of our monthly launches, ensuring that retailers stock the most popular items. A good selection of tools and basics along with carefully chosen ‘fashion’ items is the key to success. What’s coming up next? In 2020 we are looking to expand our own-brand ranges, especially Press Cut and Craft Artist. We will also have exciting new additions within the John Next Door brand. In addition, we have recently introduced a private Facebook group which has posts sharing our collections and restock updates.
