The campaign aims to encourage online retailers to act now and embrace digital accessibility as a core part of their strategy, not just to meet legal requirements but to go beyond compliance and deliver true inclusivity. I Matter Too sheds light on the barriers faced by people with disabilities in accessing digital services, apps, and platforms, tools that have become essential to daily life. The campaign video, central to the initiative, highlights real stories from individuals who have struggled with inaccessible technologies and services, emphasising the importance of getting it right and creating inclusive digital experiences. Hilary Stephenson, Managing Director at Nexer Digital, said: “The European Accessibility Act is an important step in ensuring equality, but compliance alone isn’t enough. Through the I Matter Too campaign, we’re calling on businesses to take this as an opportunity to go beyond the minimum requirements.” In June 2025, the European Accessibility Act will come into full effect, requiring businesses across the EU to ensure that their websites, apps, ATMs, card readers, and other digital interfaces are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities. Nexer Digital is urging businesses to act now, ahead of the act’s implementation, to avoid fines and to focus their efforts on creating accessible products and services. As part of the campaign, the company is also providing a series of tips on its website so retailers can take steps to ensure they are truly inclusive all year round.

21 SHOWS & EVENTS This season’s most unmissable events Shows, news & events Christmas & Gift 2025 highlights The year 2025 certainly began on a high note for the UK’s only festive trade show – Harrogate Christmas & Gift – as exhibitors and visitors turned up in large numbers to not only see the latest products the industry had to offer; but to celebrate a few important milestones too. Next year, Harrogate Christmas & Gift will take place at the Harrogate Convention Centre from 11th to 14th January 2026. Whilst the fair celebrated its 75th anniversary this year, one exhibitor, Playwrite, boasted having attended every single show since it began! Warren Cornelius, one of the directors of Harrogate Christmas & Gift, first attended the event himself as an exhibitor in 1967. However, his predecessor Syd Vening (who joined the company with his brother-in-law William (Con) Cornelius and took over the reins on Con’s death in 1944), was one of the show’s founders when it began its journey in Harrogate as International Toy Fair. Fast forward seven decades and the show never fails to impress. The halls of the Harrogate Convention Centre were packed with an array of fabulous products, not only for Christmas but for celebrations throughout the year. New colours and trends are presented each season and for Christmas 2026 it looks as though we will be seeing lots of rustic colours with autumnal hues; and pretty bold colour mixes such as purple with pink and blue with brown. Quality wrapping and packaging was also trending with a number exhibitors displaying gift wrap, gift boxes, labels, cards and adornments to make gift giving that extra bit special. The traditional Christmas cracker appears to be returning in popularity – and family pooches will be topping Santa’s wishlist next year with a selection of dog toys and baubles to choose from. Kerry Brassil of Listowell Garden Centre in Ireland, told us: “It’s been a great show and we placed lots of orders. I loved seeing more unusual colour mixes this year. It’s so nice to see so many bold and retro colour schemes.” Exhibitors were happy with the quality of visitors and buyers too with Tara Hardman of RSW commenting: “RSW had a great show. Our sales figures were up by a whopping 80 percent on 2024. Many of our existing customers visited us and we also gained a lot of new customers. Once again, the show was great for networking.” Alan Pimm of SIL Interiors reiterated this adding: “Harrogate Christmas & Gift was very successful for SIL with both orders and quotes substantially up on last year’s show. Visitor numbers to our stand also increased and we look forward to re-booking for 2026.” This was the second year that Jackson’s Comprehensive Retail Supplies exhibited in Harrogate and Greg Jackson of the company told us that it was their most successful trade show to date. “We noticed a significant increase in footfall to our stand, which was incredibly encouraging. Not only did we engage with more visitors but secured numerous orders during the event. This has had a positive impact on our business and we are thrilled with the results.” Next year, Harrogate Christmas & Gift will take place at the Harrogate Convention Centre from 11th to 14th January 2026. 22 Hyve Group announces Autumn Fair and Glee to co-locate from 2026 Hyve Group, a global leader in events and exhibitions, has announced the exciting co-location of Autumn Fair and Glee at the NEC Birmingham. Autumn Fair will take place 6th to 9th September, 2026, and Glee will take place 8th to 10th September, 2026. This strategic move by two industry-leading trade exhibitions unlocks multiple benefits for their respective sectors, creating a stronger, future-proofed platform that supports the long-term retail growth and successes of the industries they represent. Driven by industry feedback, extensive research, and considered planning to streamline the buying calendar the co-location will deliver new opportunities, maximise return on investment and enhance the experience for both exhibitors and visitors. Success for h+h cologne 2025 h+h cologne 2025 proved once again from 7th to 9th March why it’s such an important trade fair highlight of the textile handicraft industry. After three successful trade fair days around 300 exhibitors from 39 countries are looking back on an impressive event full of innovations, exchange and inspiration, but also successful business deals. Sustainability was a central theme this year: Fabrics made from algae or mushrooms and modern production techniques that were exhibited in the Green Zone underlined the industry's creative power. The extensive event and workshop programme with the main topics: 'Trends & Innovation', 'Marketing & Technology' and 'Business Development & Sustainability', were greeted with enthusiasm by the participants. Under the main theme 'Local Retail: Creating the Future', the trade fair was devoted to the future of the local retail trade. It offered the trade visitors valuable ideas and strategies for the sustainable reinforcement of their businesses, because they're battling with a difficult market environment. The exhibitors look back on the event very positively in spite of the hurdles the retail trade is faced with and described it as a pioneering prelude to the industry upturn. “With its focus on the local retail trade, h+h cologne is sending out a clear signal regarding how the industry has to actively and sustainably position itself in order to remain future-proof. It demonstrated once again in 2025 that it’s not only a place for market innovations, but also an established knowledge, networking and business platform for the entire textile handicraft industry,” commented Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer, Koelnmesse. "Even if handicrafts have established themselves as a fixed hobby, especially among young people, local retailers in particular are facing macroeconomic challenges such as consumer restraint, as evidenced by our recently published market figures. The very good result of 11.500 trade visitors this year underlines all the more how important it is that this year's h+h cologne has set impulses for the long-term success of the industry,” stated Hedi Ehlen, CEO of Initiative Handarbeit. h+h cologne 2025 at a glance: • 11.500 trade visitors from 79 countries with a foreign share of 41 percent • Biggest growth from the USA and Poland • The biggest international groups of visitors came from the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium. • Around 300 exhibitors from 39 countries with a foreign share of 78 percent • Two new zones focusing on sustainable concepts and innovations The next h+h cologne will take place March 20th to 22nd March 2026.
