Craft Focus - December/January 2024/2025 (Issue 106)

52 Reviving unsold stock Mike Edwards, owner of T.D.Edwards and Son LTD. talks to Craft Focus about being the go-to company for buying and repurposing unused stock Tell us a little bit about the company. Where are you based? When did the company start? T.D. Edwards and Son Ltd trading since 1981. Originally located in mid Wales, I took the company over from my father when he passed away and relocated to Oswestry – where it has been for more than 20 years. In today’s fast-paced retail environment, the fate of unsold stock can cause worry and stress to small businesses facing liquidation. With my family-owned business my objective is to turn the narrative around. There’s almost nothing we won’t buy so do get in touch. We even do shop and warehouse clearances. How has the company evolved? We’re ever expanding. T.D. Edwards operates on a simple yet effective business model: purchasing surplus inventory directly from manufacturers and retailers at a discounted rate, the company is able to sell on these products to customers. This model not only helps businesses recover costs on unsold items but also supports a circular economy by extending the lifecycle of products. In this current climate where sustainability is on everybody’s radar it’s good to be playing a part in this movement and avoiding products ending up in landfill.
