How would you advise a retailer who is interested in stocking your products? I’d suggest that they do some market research and assess their target market, one may love a high-end pure wool but that may not be reflected with your customers. The more colours the better, there’s nothing more pleasing to the eye than seeing shelves full of colour to get the creative juices going. What sets you apart from your competitors? As we’re only a small company compared to our competitors, we pride ourselves on offering an excellent customer service. We also strive to offer products that stand out or are different to others on the market. Our choice of bright colours sets us apart, we’re never shy of a neon or two. We also offer free downloadable patterns for all our yarns from our website for all skill levels and budgets. Do you visit any trade shows? h+h in Cologne has always been a favourite of mine, it’s great to see the show go from strength to strength, admiring the creativity of stand presentation and taking inspiration from the showcased trends. We exhibit as part of the UK Hand Knitting Association ‘The Knit Show’ in September at the Harrogate Pavilions, it’s lovely to have a trade show on home turf and it has such a friendly atmosphere. What are you looking forward to for 2025? I’m looking forward to taking Cygnet forward in the market. With 20 years of experience, I feel that there’s still so much more we can offer the crafting market. What new products can we expect from you in the future? We have a new baby blanket yarn due early next year Snoozy Woosies, as a mum of two young boys it’s always lovely to launch a baby range. I am always looking for new products and trends that can inspire the crafting community, whilst also wanting to offer something original, so watch this space for something potentially a little bonkers!
