Craft Focus - August/September 2024 (Issue 104)

86 Stop and smell the roses Judith Taylor, Owner of Rosy Posy Petals, talks to Craft Focus about her online store for sustainable, vegan and eco-friendly crafts and gifts Tell us a bit about Rosy Posy Petals, when did the online business open and by who? My name is Judith, and I started Rosy Posy Petals in 2020 as I wanted to follow my heart and my love of crafts. Tell us a bit about setting up your e-commerce website. Are you an avid crafter? I’ve loved crafts since I was very young. I was in junior school when I first started to knit and simply sat down with a pattern one day and taught myself! A couple of years later, in the school summer holidays my mum bought me a ‘how to crochet’ book. I’ve loved crafts ever since. I wanted to set up Rosy Posy Petals because of this. I spend so much time looking for my next project and hunting new and exciting kits or projects for the website! Would you like a brick and mortar store? Or is this a plan for the future? It’s no longer restricted to an older generation. The amount of young people that now craft amazes me. My youngest daughter is an avid crafter and she records the videos for me when she does her needle felting – that’s her favourite past time. Tell us a bit about what you stock? I stock a wide range of kits as well as a good stock of knitting patterns and unusual items such as handmade buttons. I like to find things that you generally don’t see on the high street. What brands do you currently stock? Are you looking for any new products or styles? My main brands are Corinne Lapierre, King Cole for knitting patterns, Hardicraft and DMC. I also do stock a range of sustainable and eco-friendly homeware items, and toys, such as organic rag dolls. I’d like to stock some downloadable products too as I understand those people that when they need a pattern,
