Lavinia Stamps has been established since 2005. I've always had an art/craft background and since leaving university have been fortunate enough to earn a living from my art work. My partner Kevin Jones and I moved to Ruthin North Wales and set up a ceramics business at Ruthin Craft centre in 1992. I loved ceramics and although loved to throw on a wheel I really enjoyed hand building with red earthenware using lots of textured elements to my finished pieces. I started to design my own range of stamps to stamp into clay, my customers loved the ones I designed, so started selling the stamps individually. Ruthin craft centre was knocked down in 2007, so I made the decision to start a new company designing stamps for the card making industry thus Lavinia Stamps was founded, and we've never looked back since.
We have quite a lot of new and exciting products launching this year, not just stamps I might add! We've been working on new concepts throughout 2019/2020 with a view to launching in spring/summer 2020. So we feel very excited at the possibilities that lie ahead. Our bestselling stamps have to be our fairies... they're our best seller.
How have you found life in lockdown; how are you planning for the future of your business?
We feel incredibly fortunate to be so busy during this strange time. Its been tough juggling duties with only four of us in when there are usually nine of us. Our customers have been fantastic, so supportive and patient. Our social media has gone crazy, ( in a good way) the inspiration, the art work, the support in our Facebook groups have been amazing... its about being there for each other and sharing how we feel, I'm so proud to be part of such a positive Facebook page... I love it.
We've had some beautiful emails of customers, that have thanked us for posting up daily videos and how its helped them and given them something to look forward too. It's a wonderful feeling if you can make someone's day a little lighter, lift their troubles away, even if its just for an hour.
Customer service is paramount to us. We always have such positive comments and reviews from our customers expressing an efficient service and superb customer care. We've also just received an award for Best Online Shop in the Best of Crafts Awards, which is fantastic news, it gives us great confidence that people have a positive shopping experience on our website which encourages our customers to come back time and time again.
